Who Are Annie and Clarabel?

Annie and Clarabel are passenger coaches who are almost always seen being pulled by Thomas. As sisters, they travel everywhere together — through the countryside, to bustling stations, and on countless adventures around Sodor.

They’ve been part of Thomas & Friends since the very beginning, first appearing in the original books by Rev. W. Awdry and later in Season 1 of the TV series.

How to Tell Them Apart 🚂

🚃 Annie – The coach that rides closest to Thomas. She carries passengers and has a more outspoken, assertive personality. 🚃 Clarabel – The coach that rides behind Annie. She also carries passengers but includes a guard’s compartment, where the guard helps look after the train.

Although they look similar — with their brown and cream colours, smiling faces, and vintage charm — each has her own personality that shines through.
