Meet Hiro – The Wise and Mighty “Master of the Railway”
On the Island of Sodor, there are many engines who are fast, strong, or cheerful…
but none are quite as special as Hiro, the dignified black-and-gold steam engine lovingly known
as the Master of the Railway.
Hiro brings history, wisdom, and kindness to Sodor’s tracks, and children absolutely adore him our Train & Track Play sessions. With his gentle personality and impressive design, Hiro is a firm favourite among young train fans.
Who Is Hiro?
Hiro is one of the oldest and most respected engines on the Island of Sodor.
Originally from Japan, he travelled across the world many years ago and has a long and
fascinating history.
When Thomas first met him, Hiro was old and broken. Through teamwork, patience, and
friendship, the engines worked together to restore him beautifully — a story that teaches
children about kindness, perseverance, and helping others.
